We all know someone whose life has been changed forever by cancer. This year, over 700 people will be diagnosed at the C. Anthony and Jean Whittingham Cancer Center and the care team at Whittingham, including our new clinician partners from MSK, will handle 30,000 patient visits — perhaps a member of your family, a neighbor, or a co-worker. With your support, we can ensure the availability of next-generation cancer care treatment and services in the communities we call home.
Keeping it Local
The Whittingham Cancer Center Walk was founded in 2004 by grateful patients who wanted to raise awareness about the outstanding programs and services provided at Norwalk Hospital’s Whittingham Cancer Center and help support its efforts. Philanthropists and long-time supporters of Norwalk Hospital, the late C. Anthony and Jean Whittingham of Stamford, were instrumental in the creation of the original C. Anthony and Jean Whittingham Cancer Center in 1997. Today, the extended Whittingham family, including Andrew and his brother Michael, continue their commitment to cancer care as lead contributors for the new Whittingham Cancer Center and the annual Whittingham Cancer Center Walk & Sally’s Run. In 2011 Sally’s Run was added, honoring the memory of Sally Kalin who lost her valiant fight to breast cancer in 2010.
All of the proceeds from the Whittingham Cancer Center Walk & Sally’s Run — over $3 million to date — remain in the Norwalk Community to help patients and their families with services such as ...
- Individual, group and family counseling
- Patient education
- Integrative medicine services
- Genetic counseling
- Patient navigation
- Support groups
- Pastoral care
- Clinical trials
Many of these services are provided to patients without charge. This work is only possible with your support.
