I hope you will join me and Jim as part of TEAM TOBIN at this year’s Whittingham Cancer Center Walk. I’ve decided to support this event because I am celebrating special anniversaries this year. I will hit the 10-year mark as a volunteer with the cancer center, and it will be 5 years since I was a patient there.
I was blessed when early stage breast cancer was detected by mammogram and followed by a relatively easy treatment plan: outpatient surgery and 36 radiation treatments. My medical team at Norwalk Hospital was top notch, and I continue to be grateful for their expertise, their care and their kindness. This year, with the support of family and friends, I hope to raise funds in thanksgiving for this fantastic community hospital.
Another thing that is special about this event is that it takes place at Calf Pasture Beach in Norwalk. I spend a lot of time there each summer. The ocean has always been a place of comfort for me, and it is the place I feel closest to my dad, who I lost 10 years ago.
Please join me as I give thanks in this place of healing and hope.
